CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER- SANDTON -SALARY: MARKET RELATED. NEGOTIABLE BASED ON EXPERIENCE
Purpose of the Role
The Chief People Officer provides strategic leadership and oversight of organization's human capital function, ensuring that people, culture, and reward systems support the organization's developmental mandate, comply with Labour and governance requirements, and enable sustainable organisational performance.
About The Role
This is a critical executive leadership role responsible for integrating human capital strategy with NHFC's strategic objectives. The role advises the CEO, EXCOM, and Board committees on workforce sustainability, transformation, ethics, and people-related risk, while ensuring compliance with PFMA and labour legislation.
Qualifying Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8 or equivalent) in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations, or a related field.
- MBA or MBL (NQF 9 or equivalent) will be an advantage
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Capital / Human Resources.
- At least 5 years at senior or executive management level.
- Proven experience advising CEOs, EXCOs, and Boards.
- Strong knowledge of labour legislation, PFMA, Treasury prescripts, and public-sector governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Human Capital Strategy aligned to the organizations mandate, Strategic Plan, and APP.
- Lead workforce planning, organisational design, and change initiatives.
- Oversee recruitment, performance management, talent management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Govern remuneration, benefits, incentives, and payroll in line with Treasury and governance requirements.
- Lead labour and employee relations, including union engagement, discipline, grievances, and dispute resolution.
- Drive employment equity, transformation, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Champion ethics management, organisational culture, employee wellness, and occupational health and safety compliance.
- Support the Board and HCRC through high-quality reporting and governance assurance.
