About the position
A well-known international company based in Namibia requires the above to be part of the exco team working closely with the md and exco team to strategically manage and oversee the operational performance and strategic execution of the organisation ensuring sales and growth strategies in the electrical and renewable energy and related markets within the retail, wholesale, industrial and related markets in Namibia.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A minimum graduate level of intellect, preferably with a higher degree in a commerce qualification or supply chain management or industrial engineering or a finance qualification or related is preferred.
- A related post graduate qualification/MBA would be an added advantage.
- Previous experience having worked in an executive level role as a chief operations officer or related is essential for the role.
- Previous experience having worked within the retail and or wholesale and or industrial markets within the electrical or renewable energy or lighting or industrial sectors or related is preferred.
- Must have a proven track record of managing large-scale business operations from multiple locations and across boarders; driving multiple projects at that same time.
- A demonstrated history of driving ERP System changes, automation, and collaborating with system service providers and business analysts to meet digital operational needs.
- Tech-savvy with a deep understanding of leveraging technology to drive operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and improve business processes.
- Must have a proven track record of success at a senior-level position within the retail/wholesale or similar industries.
- Must be computer literate in MS Office.
- Excellent financial acumen and business strategy formulation skills are pref.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, are essential.
- Proven skills in management, supervision, leadership and networking is essential.
- Must have knowledge of strategic planning, and administrative and financial management systems.
- Promotes a clear sense of purpose and inspires a positive attitude to work by focusing on successful accomplishments of objectives and integration of functional and organisational objectives.
- Must have a proven track record in driving business growth and innovation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Being part of the Exco team to strategically manage and oversee all sales and operations of the business supplying cost-effective high-quality products and solutions to the retail, wholesale, industrial and related markets.
- Leading and overseeing the daily operational functions, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and profitability across all business units. Collaborates closely with the md and executive leadership to implement strategic initiatives, optimise operational processes, and enhance the overall performance of the company.
- Overseeing and driving strategic leadership and business growth, people and culture development trade operations, cost control and performance monitoring, warehouse operational management revenue management, customer relationship management, operational risk management, policies and internal controls trade digitalisation, technology, and automation as well as ERP management and business continuity planning within the business.
- Driving and leading the sales team, managing revenue streams across contracting, tenders, and retail in line with budget and strategic goals.
- Driving digital transformation initiatives to improve sales processes, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
- Directing, managing and controlling the company’s business in all aspects by providing appropriate leadership and promoting good relations with all stakeholders in support of the overall business strategy, plans and objectives of the company.
- Preparing a long-term strategy and annual business plan and monitoring progress against these plans to ensure that the company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Providing strategic advice and guidance to the board and senior managers, to keep them aware of developments within the industry, and to ensure that the appropriate policies are developed to meet the company’s mission and objectives and to comply with all relevant statutory and other regulations.
- Preparing, gaining acceptance, and monitoring the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximized and that fixed costs are minimized.
- Representing the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms for the company.
- Directing and maintaining total quality management systems throughout the company to ensure that the best possible products and services are provided to customers and/ or clients.
- Identifying growth opportunities in the electrical and renewable energy sectors and align operational strategies to meet market demands.
- Analysing market trends and developing innovative solutions to maintain the company’s competitive edge.
- Monitoring supply chain, inventory management, and service delivery across retail, wholesale, and industrial channels.
- Drive the adoption of renewable energy products and services, enhancing the company’s footprint in sustainable energy solutions.
Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
