Chief Financial Officer : Insurance

About the position

The purpose of this position is to perform effective risk management and plan the company's financial strategy. To be well-versed in all aspects of financial management. To protect the company's revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the company's financial planning
• Perform risk management by analysing the company's liabilities and investments
• Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
• Implement, enforce, and adhere to strong and adequate internal financial controls
• Ensure cash flow is appropriate for company operations
• Effective management of Finance team. Building a strong team and attract appropriate talent
• Manage vendor relationships
• Ensure budgets and forecasts are credible (accurate & reliable), including monthly tracking, reporting and control
• Maintain high standard and quality of board packs. Produce an efficient CFO report
• Maintain key relationships with chair of Board, Audit Comm, and Risk Comm
• Set up and oversee the financial IT system
• Ensure compliance with the insurance / financial laws and company policies
• Ensure smooth external audit processes

Education and Qualifications

• Appropriate post Graduate degree in Financial Accounting
• Chartered Accountant CA(SA)
• RE5 examination
• Continuous Professional Development

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum of 8 - 10 years' experience as a Chief Financial Officer
• Thorough understanding of the Insurance / Financial environment
• Knowledge and proven application of Insurance legislation and regulations
• Understanding of business functions such as HR, Compliance, Legal etc.
• Demonstrate competency in strategic planning and business development
• Experience in market research and analysis
• Knowledge of budgeting processes and performance reporting
• Solid understanding of data analysis and business operations
