About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
Our client, a software developer specializing in digitization in emerging markets, is seeking a strategic CFO to lead financial operations across Africa, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will combine financial expertise, risk management acumen, and leadership to drive the group’s financial vision.
DUTIES:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with group objectives.
- Drive financial planning, forecasting, and M&A activities.
- Provide insights to shape overall business strategy and expansion.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee IFRS-compliant financial statements (monthly/quarterly/annual).
- Manage external audits to secure "unqualified" audit reports.
- Implement internal controls and audit functions.
Risk Management & Treasury
- Identify/mitigate financial risks; maintain robust control frameworks.
- Optimize cash flow, liquidity, and capital allocation across markets.
- Manage bank relationships, loans, and investments.
Budgeting & Cost Efficiency
- Lead group-wide budgeting processes and cost-saving initiatives.
- Analyse variances and provide actionable financial insights.
Stakeholder & Investor Relations
- Act as primary liaison for investors, banks, and regulators.
- Communicate financial performance and capital-raising strategies.
Tax & Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure compliance with South African tax laws and sector-specific regulations.
- Optimize the group’s tax position and risk management.
Technology & Systems
- Implement financial management systems for efficiency and scalability.
- Collaborate with ICT to align finance tools with tech infrastructure.
Team Leadership & ESG
- Mentor finance teams across subsidiaries; foster talent development.
- Integrate ESG principles into financial strategies and reporting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s in Financial Management/Accounting; CA(SA)
- MBA advantageous.
- Experience:
- 8+ years post-qualification, preferably in IT, Banking, or Insurance.
- Proven track record in multi-country financial leadership.
- Skills:
- Financial strategy, IFRS compliance, risk management, budgeting.
