CHIEF ACCOUNTING CLERK
LOCATION PRETORIA
POSITION TYPE 12 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT
PURPOSE
- To ensure payment of accounts to external companies for goods purchased and services rendered, transfer of funds to government institutions, public and private enterprise and the payment of salaries and allowances to employees.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- A grade 12 certificate
- Diploma
- EXPERIENCE
- Basic knowledge of financial functions, practices as well as the ability to capture data, operate computer and collate financial statistics.
- Basic knowledge and insight of the Public Service financial legislations, procedures and Treasury regulations (PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA, Financial Manual).
- Knowledge of basic financial operating systems (PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS etc)
- JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Salary administration - Processing all remunerative allowances due to employees and committee members
- Process all salary deductions (i.e. statutory, discretionary, emoluments attachment orders, spousal and child maintenance , departmental debts)
- Filing salary reports and pay point certificates
- Distribute normal and supplementary salary advices
Assessment of project funding reports for surpluses - Receive, assess and file project reports
Travel and Subsistence - Calculate and process travel and subsistence claims and advances.
Administration of deduction disallowance, salary reversal, private telephone, pension fund and insurance schemes - Reconciling and clearing of account balances
Administration of transfer and miscellaneous payments and verification of supplier bank details
