CHEP & Pallet Controller
Our clients are seeking a proactive, analytical specialist to focus daily to identify losses, eliminate penalties or unreconciled balances, and significantly reduce our overall pallet bill.
Role Overview:
Job Title: CHEP & Pallet Control Specialist
Industry Experience: Wholesale, Retail, FMCG, or Supply Chain / Logistics
Background: Financial / Accounting background (strong reconciliation, ledger balancing, and audit skills) paired with deep equipment-tracking experience.
Location: Kokstad
Key Requirements:
(Non-Negotiable)
- CHEP Expertise: Proven hands-on experience managing CHEP accounts and using Portfolio Plus / CHEP portal operations. Candidates who have previously worked directly for CHEP are highly preferred.
- Cost Containment Focus: A track record of actively auditing billing, eliminating loss/penalty fees, and bringing down pallet account costs.
- Inventory & POD Control: Strict experience in tracking daily incoming/outgoing equipment, managing Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation, and enforcing pallet exchanges.
- Systems & Excel: Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs for reconciliation) and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Syspro, Sage, etc.).
- Accountability: Assertive communication skills to hold drivers, suppliers, and retail partners accountable for pallet returns.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Daily Account Ownership: Manage all CHEP debits, credits, and transfers daily.
- Reconciliations & Audits: Perform weekly/monthly account reconciliations against physical stock takes and resolve discrepancies directly with CHEP.
- Cost & Loss Reduction: Trace slow-moving or lost equipment, ensure valid signed PODs for all transfers, and eliminate non-exchange penalties.
- SOP Enforcement: Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for warehouse teams and drivers regarding pallet handling.
