About the position

Client based in Mpumalanga seeks the services of Chemical Technician.
Chemical Technician

• Sample Collection and Analysis:
  • Collect and process various samples, including blood, toxic substances, tissue, or other relevant materials.
  • Accurately label and document samples.
  • Conduct analysis following standard procedures.
  
  


• Laboratory Testing:
  
  • Design and execute laboratory tests using established protocols.
  • Make observations during experiments and interpret findings.
  • Verify or reject hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
  
  


• Safety and Compliance:
  
  • Organize and store chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety guidelines.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols within the laboratory.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  
  


• Data Recording and Reporting:
  
  • Record all data and results meticulously, both on paper and electronically.
  • Keep daily logs and equipment record books up to date.
  
  


• Equipment Maintenance:
  
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure proper calibration.
  
  


• Shift Handover:
  
  • Communicate important information to incoming shift Lab personnel during shift changes to maintain continuity of operations.
  
  

 
Qualification/Requirements:
 
·        National Diploma/B-Tech/Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Metallurgy
 
 
Desired Characteristics:
 
 
·        Experience: Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a relevant position.
·        Equipment Handling: Familiarity with operating both electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
·        Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety measures, EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety,) systems, and best practices within a process plant.
·        Physical Condition: Excellent physical condition and endurance.
·        Computer Skills: Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, and database systems.
