About the position
Summary of role:
The Change Control Manager will lead the change management efforts for various projects, ensuring the smooth adoption of new technology-enhanced classroom environments across identified venues. The successful candidate will identify and bridge expectation gaps among staff, students, and the technical team, and support the training and communication strategies necessary for successful implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and document expectations, concerns, and resistance from academic staff, students, and technical staff.
- Liaise with project leadership to integrate stakeholder feedback into change plans.
- Develop and manage a detailed change control plan aligned with the waterfall delivery method.
- Establish formal processes for change requests, evaluation, approval, and implementation.
- Maintain a change log and ensure traceability and transparency of all change activities.
- Conduct expectation and readiness assessments to identify misalignments.
- Recommend interventions to close gaps between stakeholder groups.
- Work with relevant faculties and technical leads to develop and roll out targeted training programs.
- Coordinate user readiness campaigns and documentation of new procedures and tools.
- Draft and disseminate change communications (newsletters, FAQs, updates).
- Provide regular reports to the Project Manager and Project Sponsor on change impacts and adoption progress.
- Proactively identify risks related to resistance or poor adoption and escalate appropriately.
- Implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruption and improve stakeholder buy-in.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Matric and a bachelor’s degree in project management, Education Technology, ICT, Change Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managing change in large-scale, technology-driven projects.
- Familiarity with higher education environments and academic culture is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of change management methodologies (e.g., ADKAR, Kotter, Prosci).
- Proven experience facilitating workshops, focus groups, and training sessions.
Desirable:
- Change Management certification (Prosci, APMG, etc.)
- Experience with smart classrooms, digital learning platforms, or 4IR technologies
- Familiarity with South African higher education regulatory environment
