About the position
The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the financial activities of the entity and the preparation of various financial reports, summaries and forecasts.
A CA(SA) with 8-10 years experience including as a CFO is key.
The position is highly operational and includes input into the strategic direction of the operations, including a manufacturing concern. The incumbent will need to manage, develop and guide staff and visit branches. He or she will also be accountable for the internal control environment, including the automation of various controls and processes and working capital management.
Oversight of;
- Accounting, HR and IT departments, budget preparation, financial reporting and audit functions.
- Work with other department heads to monitor each operation and make recommendations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, head office reporting and tax returns. Review monthly General Ledger reconciliations for all operations.
- Oversee the preparation of Budgets and forecasts.
- Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; Monthly review, analyses and discussions of the income statement by operation.
- Analyzes of operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.
- Controls cash flow and working capital requirements and management
- Oversees Legal debtors and collection of amounts or write-offs.
- Review of Stock Aging and plans to reduce levels.
- Approves Creditors payments for SA operations and ensures all foreign exposure is hedged appropriately.
- Authorizes new supplier accounts.
- Evaluates and Approves Capital Expenditure
- Meeting with suppliers/customers.
- Approve IT system changes and access for users.
- Implement new systems and testing of DRP biannually.
- Oversee the documentation and implementation of IT policies and to ensure appropriate training.
