About the position
CEO: Salt Mining & Processing
ROLE PURPOSE: The CEO is responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational performance, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management of the salt mining business. The role ensures efficient extraction, processing, and commercialization of salt products while maintaining safety, environmental, and quality standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term corporate strategy.
- Identify growth opportunities.
- Drive business expansion, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Position the company competitively within domestic salt markets. 2.Operations Oversight
- Oversee salt mining operations.
- Ensure efficient processing, refining, packaging, and logistics.
- Optimize production costs and supply chain performance.
- Implement technology and automation improvements.
3.Financial Management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation.
- Monitor profitability and cost control.
- Secure financing for expansion and capital projects.
- Ensure transparent financial reporting to the board. 4. Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with mining laws and environmental regulations.
- Maintain health & safety standards aligned with industry best practices.
- Manage licensing, permits, and government relations. 5.Commercial & Market Development
- Build strong relationships with industrial buyers (chemical, food, agriculture sectors).
- Lead pricing strategy and contract negotiations.
- Strengthen brand and product positioning. 6.Risk Management
- Oversee operational, financial, environmental, and reputational risks.
- Develop crisis management and business continuity plans. 7.Leadership & Culture
- Build and lead a high-performing executive team.
- Promote a safety-first and sustainability-driven culture.
- Drive performance management systems and talent development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Sciences (Animal Science / Industrial or Metallurgic Engineering), Business Administration, or related field.
- MBA or advanced degree will be advantageous.
- 10 years relevant work experience in business management or similar type environment.
- 5 years executive management experience.
- Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and environmental compliance.

- The successful candidate will be based in either Gauteng or the Western Cape, but will be required to travel regularly between these two provinces as well as the salt mining operations, which are in remote areas.
