About the position
Permanent, new role - reporting to the National Merchandising Manager.
The purpose of the role will be to coordinate the sourcing, procurement, pricing, and assortment for the liquor category, in conjunction with the national advertising strategy and promotional framework. The incumbent should aim to make our Client the preferred retail partner for their suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve budgeted sales and profit targets
- Generate and analyse category reports including tracking post promotion performance
- Negotiating cost and sell prices with suppliers (promotional and National KVI products)
- Negotiating monthly rewards products and pricings
- Keeping stakeholders updated on promotional grids, including Promotion price checks before the marketing team send advertising to print
- Co-ordinating the supplier claims process, keeping accurate record of transactions
- Co-ordinating the new product listing process
- Overseeing planograms and shelf placement
- Collaborating with regional logistics teams
- Collaborating with the private label lead, to source opportunities for exclusive and private label expansion into Spirits and LADs
- Collaborating with the Sustainability team, to identify opportunities to develop small business supplier partners with future growth potential and consider innovative options to ensure trading is sustainable and responsible
- Consumer price perception: working lo to co-ordinate a monthly and quarterly competitor promotion tracking report
- Co-ordinating alignment with the national advertising grid and the retail media digital store platform, providing tangible leadership to grow these
- Co-ordinating a program that provides leadership to our retailers and suppliers for Cold room category implementation excellence, leading the market in LADs and providing execution excellence in ambient space
- Demand planning, considering strategic supplier partner growth targets, the most efficient supply chain to maximise cost efficiency for all stakeholders and excellent service for our retailers
Requirements:
- Matric plus relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in marketing and business management, supply chain, or related field
- At least 5 years' experience in the liquor industry, with knowledge of liquor trends, regulations, consumer behaviour
- Sound knowledge of FMCG Marketing with an ability to lead and collaborate cross- functionally
- Proficient in all MS Office applications (Excel and PowerPoint essential)
