About the Role
An established industrial and general hardware retail business in Isando is looking for a reliable, professional and well-presented Cashier / Receptionist to join the team. The role combines cashier responsibilities, front-desk customer service and general administrative support. Previous retail or cashier experience is essential, while experience within a hardware environment would be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and process cash, card and other customer payments.
- Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are processed accurately.
- Balance the cash drawer and assist with daily cash-ups.
- Welcome customers and assist with general enquiries.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls professionally.
- Assist customers with basic product enquiries and refer them to the appropriate sales staff.
- Handle customer queries in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist with filing, data capturing and general administration.
- Maintain a neat, organised and professional reception and cashier area.
- Provide general support to the sales and administrative teams when required.
Requirements
- Previous cashier or retail experience is essential.
- Previous experience in a hardware store, particularly industrial or general hardware, would be highly advantageous.
- Good computer skills.
- Experience using a point-of-sale system.
- Strong numerical ability and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Honest, trustworthy, punctual and reliable.
- Able to work effectively under pressure in a busy retail environment.
- Professional and well-presented.
- Must be able to travel reliably to Isando, Johannesburg on a daily basis.
Ideal Candidate

- Experienced in cashier, receptionist or retail environments.
- Preferably experienced within hardware, industrial retail or a similar environment.
- Confident dealing directly with customers.
- Comfortable handling cash, card payments and point-of-sale transactions.

***Salary - R 7500 - R 8000 CTC (Negotiable, based on skills, experience and in relation to current package)
