About the position
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician with experience in interior design, joinery, or furniture manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed technical drawings and 3D models to support the design, manufacturing, and installation processes of high-end interiors and furniture. You will play a key role in translating design concepts into production-ready drawings while ensuring alignment with material specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models for interior fit-outs, custom furniture, cabinetry, and joinery elements using AutoCAD, IMOS-CAD, SolidWorks, or similar software.
- Translate design briefs and concept sketches into manufacturing-ready drawings, including cutting lists, joinery details, and assembly instructions.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and workshop staff to ensure technical feasibility and manufacturing accuracy.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Maintain organized drawing records and version control across multiple projects.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for material specifications and hardware integration.
- Conduct site surveys and prepare accurate as-built drawings when necessary.
- Support the production team with clear and practical instructions to streamline the build and installation processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a CAD Technician role within the interior design, joinery, or furniture manufacturing industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D & 3D), SketchUp, and/or SolidWorks. Knowledge of Revit or IMOS-CAD is a plus.
- Strong understanding of joinery and furniture construction methods, materials, fittings, and finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and design plans.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of technical accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Industrial Design, or related field.
- Experience with CNC-compatible drawing output and manufacturing file preparation.
- Familiarity with project management software or workshop systems (e.g., Smartsheet)
Working Conditions:
- Office and workshop-based, with occasional site visits.
- Full-time hours, with flexibility depending on project deadlines.
