About the position

Role Overview
We are looking for a Systems Engineer with strong C#/.NET developmentautomationtest automation, and Azure DevOps experience.

This role is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and supporting scalable software solutions within an enterprise banking environment. The successful candidate will work across software engineering, automation, test automation, DevOps integration and production support to improve system reliability, delivery efficiency and operational performance.

Although the role carries the title of Systems Engineer, the requirement is strongly development and automation focused. The ideal candidate will be comfortable writing production-quality code, building automated test frameworks, integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines and supporting business-critical systems in a governed, high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, enhance and maintain applications using C#.NET and .NET Core.

  • Build and maintain scalable, secure and high-quality software solutions.

  • Develop automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

  • Design, develop and execute automated test scripts, preferably using Selenium.

  • Build and enhance test automation frameworks.

  • Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

  • Use Azure Test Plans for test management, planning, execution and reporting.

  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services.

  • Ensure code quality through unit testing, integration testing and automated testing.

  • Participate in system design, technical analysis, code reviews and solution troubleshooting.

  • Support production systems, including incident investigation, root cause analysis and issue resolution.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system stability, performance, maintainability and reliability.

  • Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, business and operations teams.

  • Follow enterprise governance, security, risk and compliance standards.

  • Contribute to Agile delivery ceremonies, continuous improvement initiatives and DevOps practices.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation where required.


Required Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET / .NET Core.

  • Proven software development experience in an enterprise environment.

  • Experience with test automation, preferably using Selenium.

  • Experience integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps pipelines.

  • Working knowledge of Azure Test Plans.

  • Experience with automation development, scripting, process automation or related automation tooling.

  • Solid understanding of RESTful API development and backend services.

  • Database experience, preferably SQL Server or similar relational databases.

  • Experience with version control tools such as Git.

  • Understanding of the full SDLC.

  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD and Agile delivery.

  • Ability to troubleshoot application, integration and production issues.


Preferred / Advantageous Skills

  • Exposure to the Azure cloud platform.

  • Experience working in a financial services, banking or regulated enterprise environment.

  • Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.

  • Exposure to enterprise integrations and complex system landscapes.

  • Understanding of secure coding practices.

  • Experience working with governance, risk, compliance and audit requirements.

  • RPA or process automation exposure would be advantageous.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ software development experience.

  • Proven experience in C#/.NET development.

  • Proven experience in automation, test automation or quality engineering.

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.

  • Financial services experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on C#/.NET Software Engineer with strong automation and DevOps exposure. They should be able to build applications, create automated test frameworks, integrate testing into Azure DevOps pipelines and support production systems.

This role would suit someone who has worked as a C#/.NET DeveloperAutomation EngineerSDETQuality Engineer with strong coding skills, or DevOps-aligned Software Engineer in a complex enterprise environment.
