About the position

Umhlanga - Exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer to step into a fast-paced procurement environment. Support sourcing, supplier coordination, and stock management while gaining valuable experience in a leading manufacturing operation.
Our client operates in the manufacturing sector, supplying products to a wide range of industries. The business places strong emphasis on procurement efficiency, stock accuracy, and vendor relationship management.

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing quality goods and services, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting the procurement process end-to-end. The role includes placing and tracking purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely stock availability for production needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source products and services in line with production and stock requirements
• Obtain competitive pricing and negotiate supplier terms
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and delivery timelines
• Follow up on open orders and communicate delivery status to internal teams
• Ensure suppliers meet quality and service standards
• Assist with cost-saving initiatives and reporting
• Coordinate stock returns and supplier credit processes
• Work with inventory and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels
• Support supplier onboarding and document management (e.g., BEE certificates)
• Prepare basic reports on procurement activities and stock movement

Requirements:

• Matric required; a relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain is advantageous
• 2–5 years of experience in a procurement or buying role
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems (Business Central experience is a plus)
• Basic understanding of procurement processes and stock management principles
• Exposure to supplier negotiations and order tracking
