About the position

Our client in the commodities sector with various operations, seeks a Buyer who, reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, will take accountability for the full procurement service to key customers and ensure value delivery in the required commodities and categories.

Responsibilities will include:

• Receiving, validating and processing of requisitions from internal stakeholders
• Preparation of required tender and quotation documentation
• Collecting and evaluating relevant quotations
• Sourcing, selecting and negotiating the best purchase packages
• Managing and implementing an efficient transactional based Procure to Pay system
• Identifying repeat goods or services to be placed on contract
• Expediting
• Monthly procurement reporting
• Reviewing and managing supplier queries and overdue orders
• Collaborating with end users to identify needs and required outcomes
• Liaising with end users regarding status of deliveries and delays
• Ensuring supplier adherence and awareness of safety procedures and standards
• Evaluating and identifying opportunities for promoting BEE statistics in accordance with BBBEE and the Mining Charter
• Identifying opportunities for procurement savings and benefits

Ideal candidates will hold:

• A National Diploma in Purchasing, a tertiary qualification in Purchasing Management or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years' experience in buying within a mining environment
• Experience in receiving, validating and processing of requisitions
• Sound understanding of BBBEE and the Mining Charter would be advantageous
• Above average organizational and interpersonal skills.

Fluency in Chinese would be an advantage.
