JOB DESCRIPTION
The Branded Archive Apparel & Accessories portfolio is a key component of the Archive assortment. This Portfolio requires a dedicated buyer to drive the department strategy. This is a Branded buying role, with a focus on curating and building a balanced branded product assortment while maintaining key relationships with leading global brands, such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and New Balance etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Successfully source and procure a balancedrange of merchandise in line with company strategy.
- Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives.
- Formulate departmental strategies to maximizesales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies.
- Negotiate effectively to deliver financial businessKPI'S
- Build and maintain good relationships withemployees, suppliers, and key functions in the business.
- Contribute to growth /profit throughinnovative ideas
- Availability to go on buying trips (local andinternational)
- Understanding and delivering a clear product strategy aligned with specific store brand strategy
- Think in terms of the "big picture"as well as consider specifics and detail.
- Drive productefficiencies and key measures
- Assess complex situations and implementworkable solutions.
- Communicate effectively at all levels.
- Team player and be able to fostercollaboration across buying and planning functions.
- The role of the Buyer in this portfolio will be to influence, drive and implement the product strategy for Archive in relation to Sportscene.
- Responsibilities will include the placement and strategic management of the product categories e.g. product buying, range building, trend research, market and competitor understanding, reviewing weekly & monthly performance figures and trading.
- The buyer will work closely with the planner to ensure a balanced range assortment. The correct product placement, range building, trend and market understanding are key to achieving the strategy and sales plan.
Qualifications and Experience: - Diploma, Graduate Degree, or Post Graduate Degree
- Have experience as a Buyer (2 years essential)
- Integral understanding of the clothing retail Cycle and Buying Process
- A good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable).
- Excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Uncompromising negotiation skills
- Good analytical skills
- Have a solid understanding of Quick Response model
