About the position
Our client in the financial services sector is seeking a seasoned Business Intelligence Business Analyst (BIBA) to join their growing Insurance team. This role plays a crucial part in enabling data-driven decision-making across the insurance value chain.
The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to gather and translate business needs, build dashboards, define KPIs, and ensure regulatory alignment. This is a strategic, domain-focused BI role - not a generic reporting position - and will directly influence how the business delivers customer-centric insurance solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' proven experience in information systems, business intelligence, and data warehousing.
- Minimum 5 years' experience drafting Business Requirement Specifications/Documents and translating requirements between business and technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience with Business Analysis techniques: conceptual models, ERDs, test cases, data flows, UML models, data dictionaries, business process flows, etc.
- Strong data analysis capability with a focus on determining impacts and identifying next steps.
- Understanding of data exposure risks from relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of regulatory and legislative data risk exposure specific to the financial/insurance sector.
Education & Certification:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Information Systems.
- Business Analysis certification is essential.
Domain & Culture Fit:
- Working knowledge of insurance products, long-term insurance data models, and related compliance/reporting standards.
- Ability to navigate and influence in a fast-paced, regulated, and customer-focused business environment.
- Preference for candidates with a mix of consulting and corporate experience to ensure strong governance and delivery across teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Designing and delivering data solutions tailored for insurance or financial environments.
- Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and reporting structures.
- Building governed data environments to support strategic insights.
- Working within Agile project delivery frameworks.
- Delivery of insights via Power BI, SSRS, or custom dashboards.
