About the position
Job purpose:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for generating new business by selling debit order and point-of-sale solutions, and related company products, to businesses within identified key market segments. They are required to manage a strong sales pipeline, build relationships with key individuals and ensure that new merchants are set up and trained correctly in order to meet or exceed sales targets. They must have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
The Business Development Manager will perform the following key functions for their assigned regions:
Key responsibilities:
Business Development Manager:
- Ensure achievement of set sales targets
- Ensure achievement of set annual gross profit targets
- New business development
- Implementation and management of sales strategies and campaigns
Core responsibilities:
Business development manager:
- Maintain high quality information in support of proactive management of sales and delivery targets (Pipeline, OE, Revenue and GP).
- Represent the company and increase revenue by selling the company products and solutions to all potential customers.
- Provide accurate forecasting of business and market needs.
- Implement sales strategy and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Prepare proposals for the provision of products/services.
- Follow up on new sales prospects and develop existing customers’ business needs.
- Monitor and reporting on sales prospects, progress and performance.
- Monitor and reporting on customer satisfaction, market intelligence and competitor capabilities.
- Build and maintain relationships with all key individuals within assigned accounts.
- Interact frequently with strategic customers to understand their environment and requirements.
- Maintain excellent and mutually productive inter-departmental relationships.
- Stay abreast of market developments and competitor activity.
- Be aware of and comply with risk and compliance requirements in submitting new applications.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Educational qualifications:
- Matric
- Business Management Degree/Diploma highly preferred
- Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint proficiency
Professional qualifications:
- Business Development Management Course
Years of experience:
- 5 years new business sales experience
- Key account management experience would be advantageous.
