Are you a fresh produce dealmaker?
An established agricultural group is looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially driven Business Development Manager to grow its fresh produce (specifically Apples and Pears) trading portfolio across retailers, municipal fresh produce markets and selected African markets.
This is an opportunity for someone who doesnât simply manage existing business â youâll be expected to find it, build it, negotiate it and make it profitable.
?? Your mission
- Identify and unlock new business and trading opportunities
- Source fresh produce aligned with market demand
- Grow and manage key customer accounts
- Develop cross-border trading opportunities in selected African markets
- Build strong relationships with retailers, growers, customers and industry stakeholders
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms
- Monitor market pricing, trends and competitor activity
- Represent the business across the northern regions and key municipal markets
- Turn opportunities into a sustainable and profitable portfolio
?? What will make you successful?
Weâre looking for someone with genuine fresh produce commercial experience â someone who understands the market, has strong industry relationships and knows how to spot an opportunity.
Minimum requirements:
- 5+ yearsâ experience in fresh produce marketing, trading or business development
- Solid understanding of the South African fresh produce market
- Strong commercial and negotiation ability
- Proven business development track record
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a hunger to grow
- Willingness to travel regularly, including cross-border travel
