About the position

We are now seeking a conscientious, experienced and driven Business Development Manager to lead on fundraising and partnership developments.

The role, which reports to the General manager and has a success weighted incentive package, requires a highly organised self-starter who can lead the fundraising function and deliver results expediently, under a programme designed to ensure the enterprise reaches financial sustainability by early 2026.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Grade 12
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in fundraising, sales, business development.
  • A broad background in dynamic startup or nonprofits at the set up and growth stages would be advantageous.
  • Relevant sector experience (in emerging markets, sanitation sector, or similar e.g.,

energy, water, financial inclusion, etc)

  • Success in submitting proposals for funding and/or partnerships
  • Contract development & negotiation for B2B/B2G sector
  • High level of presentation skills
  • Financial acumen - ability to assess business and service models

Diploma or degree in business management/ administration.

Responsibility

  • Leads generated to support sales and partnerships, for which they will be personally responsible
  • Funds secured in line with the specific programme directives.
  • Fostering key external relatonships (commercial, government, funders, investors), evidenced by ongoing communicaton, support, and strong references
  • Actively supporting a hard-working, respectful, and inclusive team culture.

Candidate Attributes

  • Strong track record in fundraising, including experience in the South African NPC financing landscape
  • Outstanding organizational leadership skills that require minimal oversight to provide evidence of track record and performance including lead generation, tracking and closing
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, ethical integrity
  • Experience writing successful funding proposals and supervising results reporting for SA and international grant funders.
  • Skilled in pitch development including PPT presenta/on building and delivery
  • Excellent presentation and pitching skills - powerful and concise storyteller who reads the room
  • A quick study, with the ability to provide accurate responses while thinking on their feet in strategic discussions and question-answer sessions.
  • Basic business financial acumen - understand of business accoun/ng and financial modelling, ability to respond hold their own in financial discussions.
  • Knowledge of South African utility sectors including government stakeholders and structures
