You're a strategic dealmaker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for clean energy. You enjoy operating in fast-paced, multicultural environments and thrive on closing complex, high-value deals. You're commercially sharp, a confident presenter, and adept at navigating both the private and public sectors. You're driven by outcomes and love building partnerships that deliver real impact across the continent.
You'll take the lead on originating and securing large-scale energy projects (1MW+), spanning Southern, Eastern, and West Africa. From identifying and developing new opportunities to negotiating commercial terms and bringing projects to financial close, you'll own the full business development cycle. You'll build strong relationships with developers, funders, EPCs, and municipalities, while also keeping a close eye on market and regulatory trends. Your insights will shape country entry strategies and support the company's P&L and margin objectives.
Our client is a dynamic, fast-growing leader in renewable energy, supplying solar panels, inverters, and batteries to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Based in Midrand, Johannesburg, they've built a strong footprint in both solar solutions and energy financing, playing a pivotal role in Africa's energy transition. Known for their reliability and commitment to customer service, they offer a collaborative and agile work culture where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions directly support clean energy progress across diverse African markets.
You'll bring at least 8 years' experience in business development or project sales within the energy or infrastructure sectors. A proven track record of closing multi-million-dollar energy deals in Africa is essential, along with strong networks across ministries, developers, and financiers. You'll need excellent commercial acumen, presentation skills, and fluency in English - French or Portuguese would be a major plus. Experience in solar, storage, or hybrid systems and leading multicultural teams will also set you apart.
You'll receive a competitive, market-related base salary with the potential to earn commission and a year-end bonus for exceeding targets. You'll be part of a small, stable, and innovative team that values initiative, autonomy, and long-term growth. The company's transparent and mission-led culture promotes open communication and strong relationships - both internally and with clients - while giving you the chance to contribute to continent-wide energy infrastructure deals.
