About the position

The Business Development Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and promoting the organization’s services within the transport/logistics sector.

DUTIES Business Development and Sales

- Identify, research, and pursue new business opportunities within the logistics, and supply chain sectors.
- Actively develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through cold calling, networking, referrals, and site visits.
- Present and sell the organization’s trucking and transport solutions to prospective clients.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations, quotations, and service proposals.
- Achieve monthly and annual sales targets as set by management.
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends and competitor activity.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements in line with company policies Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring service satisfaction and resolving queries.
- Conduct regular check-ins and after-sales support to ensure client retention and repeat business.
- Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to ensure seamless delivery of services

Events Management and Client Engagement

- Attend and represent the organization at weekly and monthly client events, including:
? Farmers’ markets and agricultural networking events
? Wine tasting functions
? Truck sales expos and industry trade shows
? Client social events, open days, and product showcases
- Actively organise or support the planning of customer appreciation events, promotional gatherings, and brand-building activities.
- Build strong visibility for the organization through frequent, meaningful engagement at client functions.
- Use events as key relationship-building opportunities to secure leads, strengthen partnerships, and increase business pipelines.
- Provide feedback to management on event outcomes, identified opportunities, and competitive insights.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and brand representation at all functions. Administration and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of sales activities, leads, opportunities, and customer interactions.
- Provide weekly and monthly sales performance updates to management.
- Ensure all CRM data is accurate and updated regularly.
- Contribute insights during sales meetings regarding client engagement and event participation. Collaboration & Cross Functional Support
- Work closely with the Operations, Dispatch, and Finance teams to ensure seamless service delivery to clients.
- Provide feedback to operations regarding customer-specific requirements or service issues.
- Support the marketing function with insights for promotional campaigns or branding activities.
- Participate in internal planning meetings to align sales strategies with operational capacity Compliance and Risk
- Adhere to all internal company policies, procedures, and sales governance standards.
- Ensure that pricing, proposal structures, and contracts comply with the organization’s business rules.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and protect sensitive commercial data.
- Comply with all statutory requirements relevant to the road freight logistics sector

REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in sales within the logistics, transport, or supply chain industry.

Valid driver’s license

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

Proven track record of dealing within the chemicals and associated products MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

National Diploma or qualification in Sales, Marketing, Logistics, or related field REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong understanding of logistics, road freight operations, and supply chain principles.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to prepare accurate quotes, contracts, and sales reports.

Knowledge of CRM systems (advantageous).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong negotiation and persuasion ability.

Results-driven with a focus on achieving sales targets.

Customer-centric and service-oriented.

High attention to detail and accuracy
