About the position
Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Business Development Consultant to join our client's Energy Solutions Division based in Cape Town, Epping Area. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the diesel generator industry, with a strong focus on generator sales, technical support, and project coordination. This role is key to expanding business development opportunities across the region while building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Sales & Business Development
- Drive generator and energy solution sales across the assigned territory.
- Identify new sales opportunities through cold calling, client visits, and strategic market analysis.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to increase turnover and achieve targets.
- Assist with the preparation of tenders, quotes, and formal presentations.
- Participate in exhibitions and trade shows as a representative of the Energy Solutions Division.
- Maintain and grow strong customer relationships to ensure ongoing satisfaction and repeat business.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure commitments to customers are met.
Technical Support & Proposal Development
- Assist customers with technical queries and energy requirements.
- Attend site visits and tender briefings to gather information for proposal development.
- Create conceptual designs and assist in compiling accurate, cost-effective proposals.
- Liaise with engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions meet technical standards.
- Maintain proposal documentation and update sales tracking tools regularly.
Mentoring & Internal Support
- Provide training and mentorship on generator applications and sales techniques.
- Support junior staff in proposal development and customer engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with Project and Product departments on solution identification and implementation.
Project Support
- Support project execution and customer relationship management during implementation.
- Ensure smooth handover from sales to project delivery teams for special orders or custom installations.
Requirements - 5 years’ experience in the diesel generator industry.
- 5 years’ experience in diesel generator installation requirements.
- Knowledge or formal qualification in electrical installation bylaws for diesel generators.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Syspro knowledge to confirm stock availability will be an advantage.
- MS Projects will also be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of reputable and reliable equipment and service suppliers in the industry
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license and passport.
- Willingness to travel regionally and work outside normal business hours when required.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments
