About the position
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data & Business Analyst to take end-to-end ownership of a large and complex insurance policy data migration programme.
The role will be responsible for analysing, mapping, validating and reconciling commercial insurance policy data as it moves from legacy platforms through multiple integration and staging layers into a modern Policy Administration System.
This is a highly analytical, delivery-focused role requiring a combination of business analysis, data analysis, insurance domain knowledge, data migration and integration experience.
The successful candidate must be comfortable operating at the intersection of underwriting, business, data, integration and technology, translating complex insurance requirements into precise and testable technical data specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Data Migration & Analysis
Take end-to-end ownership of policy data throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Analyse data originating from legacy insurance and policy administration platforms.
- Perform detailed source-to-target data mapping between legacy and target systems.
- Analyse and validate structured data payloads, including JSON-based interfaces.
- Develop and maintain detailed:
Source-to-target mapping matrices
- Data dictionaries
- Data specifications
- Validation rules
- Requirements traceability matrices
- Identify transformation requirements between legacy and modern system structures.
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify data anomalies, inconsistencies and migration risks.
- Ensure appropriate data lineage, data integrity and semantic alignment across systems.
Insurance & Underwriting Analysis
Interpret detailed underwriting specifications and translate them into technical data requirements.
- Analyse complex commercial insurance structures including:
Policy schedules
- Policy sections
- Cover information
- Endorsements
- Product structures
- Validation rules
- Underwriting business rules
- Ensure migrated data accurately represents the underlying insurance product and underwriting intent.
- Work closely with underwriting and business stakeholders to clarify policy and product requirements.
Data Quality & Migration Readiness
Define and perform pre-migration data validation.
- Identify and resolve data-quality issues before migration execution.
- Validate field formats, mandatory information, relationships and referential integrity.
- Establish migration readiness criteria.
- Identify policy records that do not meet migration requirements and coordinate remediation.
- Support automated migration and ingestion processes by ensuring that data meets required quality and format standards.
Reconciliation, Testing & Defect Management
Perform detailed end-to-end reconciliation between source systems, integration payloads, staging environments and target Policy Administration Systems.
- Validate migrated policy records against original source information.
- Investigate rejected or failed migration records.
- Perform root-cause analysis of data and migration defects.
- Manage defect and exception triage with technical and business teams.
- Support:

- Produce migration reconciliation and exception reports.
Integration & Technical Analysis
Work across complex integration landscapes involving:

- Analyse interface specifications and identify mapping or integration inconsistencies.

- Assist with the design of automated validation, exception reporting and migration-control processes.

Engage with internal business and technology stakeholders including:

Essential Experience
Strong experience as a Senior Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or Data Migration Analyst.
- Significant experience working on large-scale data migration or system transformation programmes.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior-level hybrid Data and Business Analyst with strong insurance data migration experience.
They will have previously worked on projects involving the migration of policy or financial-services data between legacy and modern platforms and will be comfortable moving between detailed field-level data analysis, insurance business rules, system integration requirements, migration testing and senior stakeholder engagement.
Experience with commercial insurance, Guidewire PolicyCenter, Appian, JSON integrations or RPA-enabled migration processes would provide a significant advantage.
