About the position
The Business Analyst will support the enablement viewing and analysis of hyperspectral data in the cloud (Migration in the cloud already underway), assessing platform suitability (e.g. ACL, Imago and ArcGIS enterprise), and facilitating enhanced spatial visualisation capabilities for borehole data.
Responsibilities include:
Assess current system usage, business value, ownership, and operational impact.
Develop an end state based on the business strategy/vision.
Gather requirements of missing functionalities/capabilities required to meet the desired end state.
Propose solution & costing options to deliver the end state.
Document system dependencies, including upstream and downstream systems, interfaces, integrations, linked servers, ETL jobs, reports, and data feeds.
Support the development of a structured decommissioning plan, including milestones, rollback considerations, and sign-off requirements.
Key Deliverables:
Business Requirements Specification and detailed Business Case.
Functional Specifications.
Wireframes (if applicable).
Application and Data Inventory, including applications, databases, data owners, data classification, and retention rules.
Dependency Map showing upstream and downstream systems, interfaces, integrations, and reporting dependencies.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience And Knowledge:
Strong business analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to assess business processes, system usage, dependencies, and operational impact.
Good understanding of application landscapes, databases, integrations, reporting dependencies, and data flows.
Knowledge of data retention, archiving, audit, compliance, and governance requirements.
Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce clear, audit-ready deliverables.
Ability to manage risks, issues, actions, and stakeholder approvals through to closure.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with business, technical, compliance, and architecture teams.
Qualifications:
Matric,
National Diploma in Information Technology / BCom Informatics or equivalent.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
Well-developed organizational/documentation skills.
Ability to work with large volumes of data.
The candidate will need ability to prioritize and multitask.
Excellent oral/written communication skills.
Ability to organise work in order to meet deadlines and ensure quality standards.
Ability to maintain and promote a positive working environment with various stakeholders and multiple teams involved in the project life cycle.
