Recruiting for : Business Analyst - Banking & Debit Card Systems Location: Cape Town (North) (Hybrid) Overview A leading retail organisation in South Africa is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong exposure to banking environments and debit card ecosystems. This role will focus on analysing, improving, and supporting financial and payment-related systems across retail and banking integration platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience working with debit card products, payment processing, transaction flows, reconciliation, and stakeholder engagement within large-scale retail or banking environments.
Gather, analyse, and document business requirements for banking and payment-related initiatives
Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and third-party vendors to deliver payment solutions
Analyse debit card transaction flows, payment processing, settlements, and reconciliation processes
Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to define business and system requirements
Translate business requirements into functional specifications and user stories
Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend scalable solutions
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, security standards, and operational processes
Assist with project delivery within Agile and/or Waterfall environments
Produce clear documentation including process maps, BRDs, FRDs, and workflow diagrams
Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Finance, or related field
5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst
Proven experience within banking, payments, or financial services environments
Strong knowledge of debit card systems and payment ecosystems
Experience working with card transaction processing, settlements, POS environments, or card management systems
Solid understanding of retail financial services operations
Experience working with Agile methodologies
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Exposure to acquiring or issuing environments
Knowledge of card schemes such as Visa and Mastercard
Experience with EFT, ATM, POS, or digital payment platforms
SQL or data analysis experience
Exposure to API integrations and financial systems integration projects
BABOK or CBAP certification
Strong business and systems analysis capability
Attention to detail and process orientation
Ability to work in fast-paced retail environments
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
Strong facilitation and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
