Business Analyst (Data & Analytics)
Independent contract till year end
Location: Cape Town (North) / Hybrid work model
Job Purpose
Seeking a skilled Business Analyst with a strong focus on data processing and analytics to support business transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in gathering and translating business requirements into data-driven solutions, with a focus on data storage technologies, visualisation, and Agile delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business and data requirements
- Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications
- Work closely with data engineers and developers to support data processing and storage solutions
- Analyse large datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and support dashboards and reports using visualisation tools
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance standards are maintained
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Act as a liaison between business, IT, and data teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Business, Data Analytics, or related field
- 3-7 years' experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within a data-focused environment
- Strong experience in data processing and data analysis
- Solid understanding of data storage technologies, particularly SQL
- Hands-on experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI
- Proven experience working within Agile methodologies
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience within the insurance or financial services industry
- Exposure to data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
- Certification in Business Analysis or Agile methodologies
