About the position

A national organisation requires a Branch Manager / Business Development Manager to join their team in Bedfordview.
The Branch Manager is tasked with leading the operational, financial, and strategic success of the Construction Division branch, ensuring the delivery of superior construction services to clients.
This role requires a proactive leader with a "hunter" mindset, excelling in business development, client acquisition, and seizing market opportunities, while managing branch operations, staff, and compliance.
The Branch Manager will drive revenue growth, ensure client satisfaction, and uphold the companys reputation for quality and safety in the construction industry

Key Responsibilities


Operational Management:

Oversee all branch operations, ensuring construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
Manage resources, including labour, equipment, and materials, to maximize efficiency and project outcomes.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, and maintain high-quality standards.
Track project performance indicators and implement corrective measures to address issues promptly.
 
Business Development (Hunter Attributes):
Proactively identify and secure new construction contracts, targeting clients across public and private sectors.
Build and maintain robust client relationships, serving as the primary liaison for key accounts.
Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market presence.
Represent the company at industry events, tender processes, and networking forums to enhance brand visibility and secure opportunities.
 
Financial Oversight:
Prepare and manage the branch’s annual budget, ensuring financial objectives are achieved.
Monitor revenue, expenditure, and profitability, providing regular reports to senior management.
Authorize expenditures and optimize cost management to improve financial performance.
 
People Management:
Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Manage employee relations, addressing conflicts and promoting engagement.
Formulate and execute branch-specific strategies aligned with organisational goals.
Collaborate with senior management to identify growth opportunities and mitigate operational risks.
Drive innovation in construction processes, proposing value-added solutions to enhance client deliverables.
 
Reporting and Compliance:
Submit regular reports on operational, financial, and safety performance to the Operations Director.
Ensure adherence to policies, client contracts, and South African regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and project records.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:
Minimum of a BCom Degree in Business Management or similar A Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous.

Experience:

Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in construction operations or branch management with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven success in business development, securing contracts, and achieving revenue goals.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex construction projects.
