About the position
A well-established supplier within the construction and building materials industry is seeking a hands-on and results-driven Branch Controller to join their Cape Town branch. This role is suited to an organised and accountable individual who can confidently manage branch operations, administration, sales activities, and stock control while ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall day-to-day performance of the branch, driving sales growth, maintaining accurate stock control, and ensuring smooth branch operations.
Responsibilities:
Administration & Operations
- Manage daily branch administration, including order processing, invoicing, customer queries, cash handling, and banking.
- Coordinate deliveries and collections while maintaining effective communication with Head Office.
- Maintain accurate customer records and ensure efficient office administration processes.
- Supervise branch support staff, including drivers and store personnel, ensuring duties are completed effectively.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, reporting requirements, and operational standards.
- Maintain smooth day-to-day branch operations and proactively resolve operational challenges.
Sales & Customer Service
- Achieve and exceed monthly branch sales targets.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and responsive service.
- Prepare customer quotations and follow up on outstanding opportunities.
- Identify new business opportunities and actively grow the branch customer base.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
- Assist customers with product enquiries and provide appropriate solutions.
Stock & Asset Control
- Manage stock ordering, stock control, and replenishment processes in collaboration with Head Office.
- Conduct regular stock checks, reconciliations, and variance investigations.
- Maintain accurate stock records and ensure stock availability.
- Safeguard branch stock, company assets, vehicles, equipment, and premises.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and organisation of branch facilities and storage areas.
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar branch management, administration, operations, or office control role.
- Experience or knowledge of invoicing, stock control and cash handling.
- Computer literacy
