Bookkeeper

About the position

A well-established accounting practice is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join their team. This position is fully remote. 
Minimum Requirements

• Matric.
• Relevant qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting or Finance.
• 2–5 years' experience within an accounting practice is essential.
• Experience with bookkeeping to trial balance.
• Knowledge of VAT and general accounting principles.
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Pastel or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform bookkeeping to trial balance.
• Process debtors, creditors and cashbooks.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist with monthly management accounts.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with payroll where required.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Liaise with clients regarding accounting queries.
• Assist with year-end preparations and audit requirements.
• Provide support to the Practice Manager and gradually take on additional supervisory
