Bookkeeper

About the position

A well-established company based in Germiston is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full bookkeeping function and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full bookkeeping function up to and including trial balance
• Process and reconcile creditors and debtors
• Bank reconciliations and cashbook management
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Maintain general ledger and journals
• Assist with monthly management accounts
• Process payroll and related statutory submissions (if applicable)
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies
• Liaise with auditors and external accountants when required

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ bookkeeping experience, preferably in manufacturing or engineering environment
• Experience working up to trial balance
• Strong knowledge of VAT and statutory requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

• Experience within manufacturing or steel/laser cutting industry
• Payroll experience will be advantageous
• Financial / Bookkeeping Diploma or related qualification will be advantageous
