About the position

Our client, a well established medium-sized stable firm, in the import/export industry, has a vacancy for a qualified Bookkeeper to report to the Head of Finance

Advertised salary is a Cost to Company figure; company does not provide medical aid and provident fund benefits
Due to the nature of business, fluent knowledge of Afrikaans is essential
The office environment will suit a non-smoking individual

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General accounting and bookkeeping to Trail Balance
  • Reconciliations
  • Balancing cashbooks
  • Creditors recons
  • Debtors recons
  • Maintaining general ledger
  • Journals
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange
  • Ad Hoc finance matters
  • Provide General support to the Head of Finance

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with Accounting and Mathematics on Higher Grade
  • Bookkeeping or Accounting Diploma
  • Min 2 years Bookkeeping Experience in a similar environment
  • Served Articles of Clerkship - highly advantageous!
  • Forex Knowledge (an advantage)
  • Pastel Evolution (an advantage)
  • Advanced computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Fluent in both Afrikaans & English
