Bookkeeper

About the position

We are seeking a highly efficient and dynamic Bookkeeper. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for recording daily financial transactions, updating a general ledger and preparing trial balances for perusal by accountants. This also includes maintaining and filing requisite documents for taxation compliance. The ideal candidate is proficient with Microsoft word and excel, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and is capable of handling work pressure and meeting deadlines.

Key resposibilities

• Ensure all expenses (and revenue) in all businesses are in the correct transaction accounts before the month end report is due.
• Ensure intercompany accounts and clearing accounts have been reconciled and balanced every month.
• Processing of monthly standard journals.
• Completion of all balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure all fixed assets purchased are within budget and properly authorised.
• Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
• Maintenance of Fixed asset registers.
• Ensure petty cash purchases are kept to a minimum and required reconciliations are done.
• Ensure all Finance modules balance monthly. (AR, AP, Cashbook & IC).
• Manage stock counts, ensuring variances are calculated correctly and timeously.
• Reviewing and checking of creditor's recons and payment requisitions.
• Perform Foreign Exchange payment reconciliations.
• Reviewing Creditors & Debtors capturing for accuracy.
• Finalizing of Trial Balance for reporting.
• Daily revenue reporting and monthly finance reporting.
• General overtime may be required especially over month end & year end.
• Assisting with internal audits.
• Be fully conversant with all statutory requirements.
• Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ad-hoc duties when required.

Requirements

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience with Sage 300 (Accpac)
• Capable of handling work pressure and meeting deadlines

Qualification and experience

• Matric/ Grade 12 (Mathematics)
• Bookkeeping certification
• Accounting Diploma/Degree
• At least Three (3) years of bookkeeping experience
