About the position
Most bookkeeping roles stop at balancing the books. This one gives you the opportunity to influence commercial decisions too. Is this you? You're a meticulous bookkeeper who enjoys owning the full finance process up to trial balance. Accuracy comes naturally, Excel is one of your strongest tools, and you're confident working with large volumes of transactions in a stock-driven environment. You're independent, organised and proactive, but equally happy collaborating with the wider finance team. While bookkeeping is your strength, you're excited by the opportunity to develop your costing and commercial analysis skills over time. What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it) Your primary focus will be taking ownership of the full bookkeeping function, from processing transactions and reconciliations through to trial balance, debtors, creditors, cashbook and month-end activities. As the business continues to grow, you'll gradually become involved in product costing, analysing supplier pricing, monitoring cost movements and producing meaningful reports that support purchasing and pricing decisions. You'll enjoy this opportunity because you'll join the business at an exciting stage where the costing function is still being developed, giving you the chance to grow into a broader commercial finance role while remaining grounded in what you do best. Where you'll be doing it Our client is a long-established player in the agricultural sector operating near Krugersdorp. They are widely recognised for quality, innovation and sustainability, with international industry recognition for excellence. You'll join a collaborative finance team led by managers who trust their people, avoid micromanagement and value ownership, initiative and open communication. This is a full-time, office-based position with hours of 07:00 - 16:30. What you'll need A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or Bookkeeping, or equivalent practical experience, together with at least 3-5 years' experience in a full-function bookkeeping role up to trial balance. Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs are essential, along with experience using an ERP system such as Sage Evolution, Pastel or similar. Previous exposure to stock-based businesses, manufacturing, FMCG, agriculture or distribution will be highly advantageous, while any costing or product analysis experience will set you apart. A valid driver's licence and own car is required. What you'll get You'll join a respected and growing business where your contribution will be valued and your work will have visible impact. In return, you'll receive a basic salary with a risk benefit and retirement fund, exposure to a dynamic, growing operational environment and the opportunity to grow within a well-established organisation focused on continuous improvement.
