About the position

Join a leading FMCG company as a Boilermaker and take charge of keeping high-speed operations running smoothly.
You’ll handle fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of steel structures, piping systems, and pressure vessels,
while mentoring junior staff and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Minimum requirements:

  • N3 / N4 Qualification in Relevant Field.
  • Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal).
  • 5 - 7 years in relevant trade e.g. Electrician, Fitter, Millwright.
  • 5 years’ experience in a FMCG environment.
  • Experience with High-Speed Continuous Operations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge in relevant field.
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory and legislative requirements (e.g., OSH Act, GMP, Food Safety).
  • Knowledge of pneumatics.
  • Maintenance systems.
  • Fault finding and root cause analysis.
  • Reliable.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Technically capable.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Anticipate and identify possible machine reliability problems and take appropriate actions to ensure continuity of manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate and lead problem-solving processes, providing inputs and suggestions to the Maintenance Foreman for continuous improvement.
  • Record and analyse breakdown trends per machine using the maintenance system to motivate equipment improvements or purchases.
  • Provide support on ad hoc projects, including renovating and refurbishing machines and installations, and commissioning them to optimise process flow.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Food Safety, Health and Safety, and GMP requirements through the maintenance of process and document controls in line with SOPs.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching for handymen and apprentices as required, in line with the company's Leadership promise.
  • Supervise, train, and coach Technical Operators on SOPs and work instructions to ensure best operating practices.
