About the position

A well-established meat/vegetable processing plant in Krugersdorp is looking for an experienced Boiler Operator to join their Engineering Department. This role reports to the Site and Utilities Foreman and is responsible for operating coal-fired boilers to ensure safe and consistent steam supply to meet production demands.

About The Employer:

Key Responsibilities:




- Operate and monitor 3-5 high-capacity boilers on a rotating shift
- Control and maintain pressure and temperature in the Central Heat & Power Plant (CHPP)
- Adjust feed water, fuel, air flow, and grates to optimize combustion efficiency
- Conduct start-up and shutdown procedures using manual and automatic controls
- Maintain accurate records of operational metrics and log sheet entries
- Perform routine maintenance and assist with repairs on boiler-related equipment
- Handle coal loading and ash removal
- Participate in emergency procedures, including power failure response
- Uphold safety standards and housekeeping in the boiler house
- Ensure smooth shift handovers and proper communication of equipment status

Minimum Requirements:


- Grade 12 / Matric
- Valid Boiler Operator Training Certificate (Accredited) - compulsory
- 2-3 years' experience operating industrial boilers
- Ability to identify mechanical and electrical issues
- Physically fit; capable of working in high-heat environments
- Able to read gauges/meters and complete logbooks accurately
- Willingness to work on a 4-shift rotational schedule
