About the position
- Repair and maintain all mechanical equipment.
- Handle and move objects using hands and arms in the installation, positioning, and movement of materials.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other defects.
- Perform activities that require the use of arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials, using the whole body.
- Observe, receive, and obtain information from relevant sources to complete the workpiece.
- Monitor and review information from materials to detect or assess problems.
- Identify information, estimate, and recognize differences, similarities, and changes in events to complete the workpiece.
- Control machines and various processes.
- Ensure efficient fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of metal structures
- Read and interpret drawings to plan work and calculate materials needed
- Cut materials to specification and within given tolerance
- Bolt or arc weld structures and parts together using wrenches and welding equipment
- Examine workpieces for defective welding, weak spots, and repair defects
- Lay out materials for equipment construction, marking according to drawings and tolerances
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates using straight edges, squares, and measuring tools
- Cut materials to size using guillotine, cutting torch, or saws, and bend using bending machines
- Position, align, and secure structural parts and assemblies according to drawings
- Repair or replace defective parts using cutting torches and welding equipment
- Work on welded seams, joints, and irregular edges to achieve the proper fit
- Use cutting torches, hammers, files, metalworking machines to reshape metal parts
- Determine locations, relationships, and dimensions of parts from drawings
- Assemble parts by tack welding to ensure correct fit
- Use overhead cranes or lifting equipment to position parts into place
- Perform proper welding after confirming fit according to specifications
- Clean workpieces after assembly and inspection using wire brushes, grinding machines, or specified tools
