About the position
A beverage flavourist is a professional responsible for creating and developing new beverage flavours by blending various ingredients, utilizing their expert sensory skills and knowledge of flavour chemistry to design unique and appealing taste profiles for a variety of beverage products, often collaborating with product development teams to meet specific customer needs and market trends. Key responsibilities of a beverage flavourist: Design and develop new beverage flavours by combining different flavouring ingredients, adjusting concentrations, and optimizing taste profiles to achieve desired sensory attributes. Conduct extensive taste testing to assess the quality and consistency of developed flavours, identifying any necessary adjustments to achieve the desired flavour profile. Research and source appropriate flavouring ingredients, including natural and synthetic compounds, considering regulatory compliance and cost-effectiveness. Understand the chemistry of flavour compounds, their interactions, and how they are affected by different beverage bases and processing conditions. Work closely with beverage companies to understand their product development needs, translate market trends into flavour concepts, and present flavour proposals for approval. Stay updated on emerging flavour trends and consumer preferences to develop innovative and market-relevant beverage flavours. Ensure all developed flavours meet quality standards and comply with relevant food safety regulations.

About The Employer:
Our client based in Montague Garden is looking to acquire an experienced Beverage Flavourist at one of their sites at Montague Garden. The successful candidate should possesses the following skills and experience:
Required skills and qualifications:
- Excellent sensory perception:
Highly developed taste and smell senses to accurately identify and differentiate subtle flavour nuances.
- Flavour chemistry knowledge:
Understanding of the chemical properties of flavour compounds and how they interact with different beverage bases
- Formulation expertise:
Ability to precisely blend flavour ingredients to achieve desired taste profiles
- Creativity and innovation:
Generate new and unique flavour concepts to meet evolving market demands
- Technical skills:
Familiarity with analytical techniques like gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyse flavour profiles
- Communication skills:
Effectively communicate flavour concepts to clients, product development teams, and other stakeholders
- Grade 12 is essential
- Qulaification in Science, Chemistry, Food Science/Food Technology, or a comparable field is often required.
- At least 3 years and above experience as a Flavorist/Senior Flavorist with a major Flavor House is often considered the minimum.
- Understanding of sensory and analytical tools
