Location: Midrand

Reports To: General Manager Safety

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Employment Equity and BBBEE Specialist/Coordinator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and implementing the Employment Equity (EE) and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) initiatives within our organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in compliance, reporting, and strategy development related to employment equity and BBBEE, ensuring that the company meets its legal obligations while promoting diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:
Employment Equity Management:

  • Coordinate and implement the company's Employment Equity plan in alignment with the Employment Equity Act.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Employment Equity requirements.
  • Develop and manage action plans to address employment equity targets and goals.
  • Provide guidance on EE policy, procedures, and best practices to all levels of staff and management.
  • Maintain and update EE compliance file
  • Facilitate the formation and meetings of the Employment Equity Committee, ensuring collaboration across all departments.
  • Prepare and submit Employment Equity reports to the Department of Employment and Labour within deadlines.
  • Continuously review and improve our EE processes by undertaking regular reviews and assisting in reviews, administrative systems, and procedures.
  • Custodianship of EE data in accordance with the EEA

BBBEE Compliance and Strategy:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's BBBEE strategy in alignment with the latest BBBEE codes and requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the B-BBEE rating across all elements of the scorecard.
  • Monitor and track BBBEE scorecard performance across all relevant pillars (ownership, management control, skills development, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit annual B-BBEE reports and verification documentation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the B-BBEE status regularly and ensure accurate record keeping.
  • Guide and advise senior management on leading skills development strategies and practices.
  • Develop strategies to enhance the company's BBBEE rating and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Manage external and internal learnerships
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, procurement, finance) to gather necessary data and ensure alignment with B-BBEE objectives.
  • Liaise with external consultants and auditors to ensure accurate BBBEE verification.
  • Manage enterprise and supplier development programs to support the growth and sustainability of black owned businesses.
  • Oversee and manage the socio-economic development initiatives, ensuring they align with B-BBEE requirements and community needs.
  • Track and report on the impact of socio-economic development projects.
  • Conduct B-BBEE awareness training for employees and management to ensure understanding and support for B-BBEE initiatives.
  • Report on BBBEE performance and provide recommendations for improvement to senior management.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with senior management and relevant departments to ensure alignment between Employment Equity and BBBEE goals.
  • Provide training and support to managers and employees on Employment Equity and BBBEE principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant government departments and industry bodies to stay informed of regulatory changes.
  • Assist in the review and updating of Employee and Employer Gambling License applications with the Gauteng Gambling Board.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to Employment Equity and BBBEE compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of all required reports to regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze data and trends to provide actionable insights and support decision-making.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Coordinate with external companies for timely health and safety inspections, review reports, track compliance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Organize Health and Safety Committee training and meetings.
  • Chair Health and Safety Committee meetings.

Corporate Social Responsibility:

  • Develop and implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies aligned with company values and goals.
  • Oversee and manage community engagement programs and partnerships.
  • Monitor and report on CSR initiatives, ensuring alignment with sustainability and ethical standards.
  • Organize and promote employee volunteer programs and charitable activities.
  • Track and evaluate the impact of CSR projects, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate CSR practices into business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to CSR activities.
  • Foster relationships with external organizations, NGOs, and government bodies to support CSR initiatives.
  • Other Ad Hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Employment Equity and BBBEE compliance or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Employment Equity Act, BBBEE legislation, and related compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing Employment Equity and BBBEE strategies and plans.
  • Experience with B-BBEE scorecard as per the DTIC
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
