About the position
Key Responsibilities:
Baking Duties:
- Prepare, bake, and present a range of bakery items, including bread, rolls, muffins, and pastries, in line with company standards.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately according to recipes to ensure consistent quality.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and dough dividers safely and efficiently.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures, making adjustments as needed for optimal results.
- Package, label, and display baked goods in an appealing and organized manner to enhance customer experience and sales.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and well-organized work area, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Conduct daily stock checks on ingredients and assist in placing orders to ensure stock availability and minimize waste.
Customer-Facing / Cashier Support (if required):
- Operate the till, process sales transactions accurately, and handle various forms of payment.
- Deliver friendly, helpful, and professional service to all customers, addressing queries and resolving minor issues efficiently.
- Balance the till at the beginning and end of shifts, ensuring compliance with cash handling procedures.
- Support promotional efforts and customer loyalty programs to enhance customer engagement.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the till and assist with front-of-store housekeeping as needed.
- Assist in shelf restocking and monitor product rotation near the checkout area.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a bakery or food production environment.
- Grade 12
- Knowledge of baking techniques and food safety standards.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.
