Azure Cloud Engineer

About the position

My client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a Azure Cloud Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

IT / FINANCE

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Relevant cloud certifications (Microsoft Azure certifications preferred)
• 3+ years' experience in Azure cloud development and management
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates and/or Terraform
• Proven experience in scripting using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Good knowledge of cloud security best practices

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automated provisioning and management of cloud resources
• Write and maintain scripts to support automation, deployment, and operational efficiency
• Monitor, optimise, and manage cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to ensure secure and scalable cloud architecture
• Troubleshoot and resolve Azure infrastructure and service-related issues
• Ensure adherence to cloud governance, security, and architectural best practices
