About the position

Role Summary


We are seeking an experienced AWS Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services. The role focuses on automation, reliability, performance optimisation, and cloud security while supporting application teams and business stakeholders.



Key Responsibilities


  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK).
  • Build and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud architectures.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise AWS environments for performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Implement cloud security best practices including IAM, encryption, network segmentation, and logging.
  • Manage compute, storage, networking, and database services (EC2, EKS/ECS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, ELB).
  • Support containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Perform backups, disaster recovery planning, and high availability design.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Application teams.
  • Produce technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Required Skills & Experience


  • 3–7+ years experience in cloud engineering, with strong focus on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Strong Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, Load Balancers, Firewalls).
  • Experience with container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Understanding of security best practices and shared responsibility model.

Desirable / Advantageous


  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator).
  • Experience with multi-account AWS environments and landing zones.
  • Knowledge of cost optimisation (FinOps).
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions).
