About the position
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Automotive Petrol and Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work on a variety of vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on petrol and diesel vehicles.
- Diagnose faults and perform necessary adjustments, replacements, and calibrations.
- Inspect vehicle systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
- Perform engine overhauls, clutch replacements, and gearbox repairs where required.
- Ensure all work is completed according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Test vehicles and equipment to confirm successful repairs.
- Adhere to workshop cleanliness, safety, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Trade Test Certificate (Motor Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic).
- Minimum 5 years experience.
- Sound understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Valid driver's licence (Code 8 or higher).
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving ability
- Must have own tools
