About the position
Purpose: Responsible for the execution and oversees of contracts relating to the control, instrumentation, PLC and SCADA portion.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
DEGREE IN AUTOMATION ENGINEERING +5 yrs hands on automation engineering experience, of which at least 2 yrs must have included automation staff management
Responsibilities & Duties: Include but not limited to:
- Assist with the company's network related issues, telephones and controlling / maintaining of back-up drives.
- Managing of contracts, including the planning, organising, monitoring and controlling.
- Identifying and documenting activities and steps required to meeting contract objectives, including all SHEQ related issues and documents.
- Evaluating contract estimates against actual costs, including controlling costs and assessing deviations to contracts.
- Plan and control communication systems for contracts to ensure that required information is available.
- Identifying, controlling and timing of purchases.
- Determine hold and witness points for QCP in conjunction with the customer, compile and supply all necessary SHEQ documentation, including test reports, QCP's, etc for workshop and site.
- Assure the activities of all automation staff are efficient, cost effective and safe.
- Ensure before testing in workshop or commissioning on site that all necessary safety precautions (risk assessment, PPE, lock-out procedure, safety tape etc.) are in place and people are notified.
- Ensure that all contract variations and contractual matters are recorded and followed-up. k. Keep up with the latest technological trends and keep record thereof.
- Identify training needs within the division.
- Ensure that the division's technical capabilities are maintained.
- Factory and on-site testing and commission functions relating to PLC/ HMI/ SCADA systems.
- Produce as-built documentation with regards to PLC/ HMI/ SCADA programs and I/O lists. p. Purchases up to R 1 000.00
- Purchase material up to R 100 000.00
- Approve PLC designs.
- Raising of SHEQ related NCRs.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
- Comply with IS[Phone Number Removed]; QMS processes and update as required.
- Accurate and adequate recording, controlling and maintaining of SHEQ documentation and contract files.
- Contracts completed in time and within budget (achieve profit).
- Accurate monthly invoicing and payment certificates issues timeously.
- PLC/ HMI/ SCADA programming and configuring to be done with customer satisfaction, within budget, on time and within The company's documents.
- Closing of all contracts and achieves an 80% plus customer satisfaction rating.
- Ensuring The company's network is continually up to date and working efficiently and accordingly, this includes the controlling of the back-up drives.
- Accurately documenting and returning to the stores all unused equipment and material on contracts (100% compliance).
