About the position
The purpose of the Audio-Visual Specialist role is to plan, produce, and manage audio-visual content that supports the company's digital communication strategy, public awareness campaigns, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. The role ensures the effective dissemination of accurate and consistent information across multiple platforms, in line with company policies, standards, and legislative requirements.
Key Performance Areas
- Plan, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video and audio content in support of company communication, public education, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate and manage live streaming and recording of company strategic engagements, events, and briefings across approved digital platforms.
- Produce and adapt audio-visual content for digital platforms, including websites, social media channels, and internal communication platforms.
- Operate, maintain, and ensure the effective use of audio-visual production equipment, including cameras, lighting, microphones, and editing software, in accordance with organisational standards.
- Collaborate with Strategic Communications, Digital Marketing, and relevant internal stakeholders to support integrated media and communication strategies.
- Manage post-production processes, including editing, sound mixing, colour correction, captioning, and quality assurance, to ensure compliance with company branding and accessibility standards.
- Maintain an organised and secure archive of all company media assets, ensuring proper cataloguing, storage, and retrieval in line with information management and governance requirements.
- To build and manage a strong team and ensure adherence to all Strategic Communication policies.
- Provision of timely and accurate reports in accordance with business and management requirements.
- To assist in the management of the business unit.
- To ensure the proper administration, governance and risk management of the sub-unit.
Minimum Education/training:
- A relevant bachelor's degree at NQF Level 7 or National Diploma recognised by SAQA, in Audio Visual Communication, Video Production, Broadcasting Production, Film and TV Production or related qualification.
The following will serve as an added advantage:
- Video production and editing (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Audio production and sound editing
- Live streaming and broadcast production
- Digital content creation for social media platforms
- Photography and lighting techniques
- Motion graphics and basic animation
- Digital accessibility and captioning standards
Minimum Experience:
- 3-5 years' experience in the Audio-visual and communication environment.
- Basic knowledge of Government processes.
