About the position
An opportunity exists for Assortment Planners to curate and manage product assortmentshin. The role is responsible for ensuring that the product mix aligns with customer preferences, market trends and business goals.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Assortment Optimization Manager and cross-functional teams to implement assortment strategies that drive sales, improve inventory turnover and enhance profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute assortment strategies based on market trends, customer preferences and sales data.
- Optimise inventory levels to balance supply and demand while avoiding overstocking.
- Monitor product life cycles and make recommendations on product introductions, discontinuations and promotions.
- Work with vendors to negotiate terms, manage lead times and support accurate product delivery.
- Analyse sales data, identify performance trends and recommend assortment adjustments to drive revenue.
- Collaborate with pricing teams to support competitive pricing and margin optimisation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, consumer behaviour and competitor assortments.
- Plan and execute promotions, seasonal assortments and special events to maximise sales opportunities.
- Work closely with merchandising teams to align assortment plans with category and brand strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to support effective product displays and presentations in-store or online.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing or a related field.
- Additional certifications in retail planning or merchandising would be advantageous.
- 3+ years' experience in retail planning, assortment management or a related role.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing assortment strategies.
- Strong Excel and data analytics capability for assortment analysis, sales forecasting and inventory management.
- Good understanding of retail operations, product life cycles and consumer behaviour.
