About the position
An opportunity exists for an Assortment Optimization Manager to support and enable the assortment optimisation process through macro and midi space management, data analysis, opportunity identification and space productivity improvements across the shopfloor.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing macro, midi and micro-space, benchmarking space against pre-determined benchmarks, and ensuring flows and adjacencies are aligned with customer shopping patterns and preferences.
Key responsabilities
- Develop and implement customer-focused assortment strategies based on market trends, sales data, shopper insights and brand positioning.
- Lead assortment planning to support customer segments, seasonal demand, category plans and financial objectives.
- Analyse market, competitor, sales and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with merchandising, buying, marketing and supplier teams to align assortment, pricing, promotions and product launches.
- Optimise inventory, stock availability and product life cycle decisions to reduce stockouts and excess stock.
- Support forecasting, demand planning, budget management and category master data accuracy.
- Execute category planning across assortment, pricing, shelf layout, new stores, promotions and revamps.
- Lead, guide and develop the assortment planning team.
- Develop and monitor store/category benchmarks including trading density, stock density, GMROI, GMROM and GP/SQM.
Experience & Qualification
- Business-related qualification in Marketing, Business Commerce, Supply Chain or related field.
- 2 to 3 years' experience in retail.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing assortment strategies.
- Strong Excel and data analytics capability for assortment analysis, sales forecasting and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, product life cycles and consumer behaviour.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse and present data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across different levels.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high-pressure environment.
- Effective time management skills.
