About the position

Introduction

The position of Associate: Clinical Risk Management is vacant. The Associate: Clinical Risk Management will report directly to the Senior Management: Clinical Risk Management and forms part of the Healthcare Management Division. The position is based at GEMS Head Office in Pretoria.

The total remuneration package will be R 576 206 per annum, based on the Scheme's Remuneration Policy.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Associate Clinical Risk Management will be required to support the Senior Manager Clinical Risk Management through the implementation of the following Key Performance Areas (KPAs):

  • Provide admin support to the CRM team through coordination of meetings and ensuring that meeting deliverables are met
  • Oversee documentation and data management related to disease risk assessments and medicine management
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support related to medicine procurement, reporting and documentation
  • Manage the Senior Manager's diary
  • Facilitate meeting set-up and provide support for CRM meetings
  • Maintain a document tracker for all submissions to the CRM team
  • Compile minutes and action lists for all CRM meetings
  • Draft divisional Memos and follow through on their finalisation, approval and archiving
  • Support in the management of divisional budget in line with budget allocation
  • Involvement in procuring medicines and healthcare supplies while adhering to the budget constraints
  • Administer all procurement activities for office supplies for the CRM team
  • Coordinate all training, conference and travel arrangements for the business unit
  • Responsible for the business unit's scorecard and work plan updates
  • Ensure accurate documentation of disease management processes, patient data and procurement activities
  • Maintain formal communication with internal stakeholders, vendors and health authorities
  • Prepare and present reports on risk management, procurement and progress on disease management strategies
  • Provide project management support, including tracking and reporting for the successful and timeous implementation of new and existing initiatives and projects
  • Oversee the execution of disease risk management programs and strategies
  • Coordinate the CMS Healthcare Utilisation Data-Annual Statutory return (ASR) projects
  • Provide required support and co-ordination of Year End projects and implementation
  • Liaise with the GEMS SPN on CRM related matters
  • Attend relevant healthcare or disease management committees to share insights and provide recommendations
  • Review all reports submitted by Service Providers and identify anomalies
  • Prepare presentations and reports for the DRMM unit and ensure the timeous submission thereof
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a quality assurance and utilisation review programmes for member benefits
  • Support the CRM team in the development, evaluation, revision and curating of SOPs in relation to all benefits and clinical risk management
  • Facilitate resolution of queries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to ensure success in the achievement of the strategic objectives
  • Assist, support and engage with Scheme's SPNs and other internal divisions as well other stakeholders as directed
  • Oversight of the Scheme's SPN processes, integration and interfaces
  • Ensure that the targets are submitted timeously for review by the Scheme and ensure monthly progress monitoring
  • Expertise in using health information systems, medicine tracking systems or other healthcare management software
  • Technical Application: Use of statistical and analytical software for disease modeling and risk prediction
  • Proactively identify potential risks in disease outbreaks, medicine shortages or program inefficiencies
  • Develop strategies to reduce or eliminate identified risks
  • Participate in the creation of emergency plans to address unexpected disease risks or health crises
  • Assist in the monitoring, mitigation and closure of CRM specific audit findings
  • Support the CRM unit in tracking and monitoring the performance of the various service providers in line with SLAs, including reporting and logging of arising transgressions
  • Support the CRM unit to mitigate any operational risks

Qualification Requirements
  • Minimum of a 3-year diploma or certificate in Medical Science or health related field or NQF level 5 equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in disease risk management, healthcare funding/managed care and management or a related field will be advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex healthcare or disease management projects
  • Prior experience in identifying, assessing and mitigating disease-related risks
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
  • Team player with good organisational skills
  • Adaptable and resilient
  • Project Management skills will be an added advantage
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
