The Role: Assistant Store Manager Menlyn Park
As Assistant Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in leading a busy, high-performing retail team. This role requires strong operational oversight, a hands-on leadership style, and a passion for motivating teams to hit sales targets while delivering top-tier customer service. You will also be expected to step up and run the store in the Store Manager's absence.
Working hours: Retail hours including weekends, public holidays, and shifts (5 working days per week with 1 guaranteed weekend off per month).
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a retail management or supervisory role
- Support the Store Manager in leading and motivating the team to meet and exceed sales targets
- Drive excellence in daily operations, including staff scheduling and task delegation
- Monitor store KPIs and support the team in achieving individual and store goals
- Handle staff coaching, performance management, and disciplinary discussions when necessary
- Ensure outstanding customer service and handle escalations with professionalism
- Oversee visual merchandising and ensure adherence to brand standards
- Manage shrinkage, stockroom organisation, and stock control processes
- Conduct opening/closing procedures and ensure compliance with all policies
About You
- 3+ years of experience in a similar retail leadership role (Assistant Store Manager, Floor Manager, Supervisor)
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a busy retail environment
- Confident managing team performance, conflict, and discipline
- Strong KPI and target management skills
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
- Comfortable working weekends, shifts, and public holidays
- Proactive, hands-on leader who thrives under pressure
- Matric required; tertiary qualification in retail or business (advantageous)
Salary and Remuneration
- R13,000R15,000 basic salary per month (excluding incentives)
- Competitive commission and incentive structure
- Annual performance bonus
